November 2009

Surrounded by palm trees and scenic views Villa Luminosa is a wonderful place to unwind and do nothing or as a base to explore the many outdoor activities that region has to offer.

Large enough to house an army, small enough to feel cozy when togetherness is on the agenda. During our stay the weather was unseasonably rainy (IDA), but we still had a great time. Lots of open indoor space kept us from getting cabin fever while we waited for the rains to pass as well a providing several nice view points to observe mother nature up close and personal.

Francisco and Alicia were wonderful to have available. Great food! I think I ate a ton (yes 2,000lbs) of guacamole and pico during our visit.

Despite the weather we had a wonderful stay and would love to come back and explore more of the region another time. Villa Luminosa would definitely be on the top of our list of places to stay.

What an awesome stay! The house is HUGE, giving ample room for 6 adults, and room for more. It had all the amenities one would ask for from a world class resort, but this was just a house…I was blown away!

The staff, Alicia and Francisco, were amazing…it was like staying in a 4 star resort. The housekeeping was fantastic and the food was out of this world! The few minor issues that we had, mostly due to the uncooperative weather (IDA), were resolved quickly and easily by the staff.

I would highly recommend a stay here for anyone interested in vacationing in tropical places, and especially those interested in a more relaxing and eco-friendly trip to the Yucatan.

In Nov 2009, I had the fortune of spending time in Villa Luminosa. Although we had less than favorable weather, the house and staff were well worth the trip. The comfort and beauty of the house was above expectations. The beach was comfortable, well kept, and on a private bay, which meant little to no traffic. The pool is cozy and deep, there are 3 dining areas, not counting the roof, and almost everywhere you turn you have a view worth looking at.

As for the staff, I can't say enough good things. The property manager was attentive and quick to address issues. The live in manager and his wife were exceptionally friendly and WOW could they cook. The meals they prepared for our group were fantastic, to say the least. Our dinners out could hardly compare, and oftentimes didn't.

The location of the house is very good for tourists as well as those looking for a quiet escape. About 5-10 minutes down a private road, it is within 15-30 minutes from a multitude of cenotes, adventure parks, diners, beaches, and small villages. Not only I will return when possible, but I will most certainly recommend to all friends and family.

We sure picked the wrong week to head down to the Yucatan Peninsula, as Hurricane Ida made a close sweep to Tankah Bay and thus dampened our beach-going prospects. But, we DID pick the right accommodations!

Villa Luminosa was much more enjoyable than its web-site's pictures can convey. The bedrooms are more than spacious, each with its own air-conditioner and bathroom. I stayed in a lower level bedroom which even had my own refrigerator. The pool was the perfect size, and gave the entire downstairs a resort feel. The main house upstairs was as comfortable as being at home, and the roof-top deck provided 360° views. We always enjoy saving money by cooking our own meals, and their full kitchen made this even more enjoyable. But the meals Francisco prepared for us were simply fabulous, authentic Mexican: "Muí delicioso!"

We can't wait to get back and enjoy the normal, sunny weather that region is so famous for. We give Villa Luminosa and their staff our highest recommendation!!!

I recently stayed at Villa Luminosa, I wanted to take a minute to explain what an incredible stay we had.

We arrived in the evening so it was dark, my first impression was "WOW this place is incredible". Then the next day the sun came out and I could see the view from the top deck, my impression from the night before was an understatement. This is an incredible Villa in the middle of "heaven on earth".

The staff that runs Villa Luminosa, are even better than the view, Francisco and Alicia made us feel like royalty. The food they prepared was BETTER than any 4-5 star restaurant. They kept the house and the grounds very clean, and were NEVER in the way, always extremely polite and friendly. I considering packing them in my suitcase and bringing them home.

We were there for a business/pleasure trip, during hurricane Ida, it rained most days. The staff made our group so comfortable and relaxing it didn't matter it was raining.

I can't wait for my next chance to stay at Villa Luminosa.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, the house, staff, management team, all were incredible.

First I want the staff to know how much we appreciated the attentiveness you gave us for our stay. Rhett thanks for showing up and keeping in touch to make sure we were AOK and for Arranging our meal for the first night!! And Eddie thanks for getting the menu to Francisco!

The house was great! The new water pressure system was super!

PLEASE, PLEASE - MAKE SURE to share how much we appreciated Poncho and Alicia's efforts!!! The cooking was remarkable - the guys could not say enough GREAT things - seriously. When we did eat out the first thing they would say is "Not as good as Francisco's and Alicia's food. The Guac and Pico de Gallo was a plenty and was perfect for snacks and munchies everyday, they thoroughly enjoyed it! They made sure our rooms were cleaned and made-up everyday, we had clean towels, etc, etc. We did our best to clean up after ourselves by doing dishes and keeping the place "tidy", but Alicia always made sure everything was spotless - amazing! Even little things like helping me order pizza and having the garage door opened when we would come home at night. We noticed it all and we are very appreciative! I am sure Alicia was in shock by the mucho cantidad las latas de cerveza she had to haul away every day.

Again - thank you all - as I know to be very true due to the nature of my business, it takes a great team to make things happen and move effectively and efficiently - you are a good team - keep it up!

Thank you again for everything - this was a very important retreat for my team and it went down perfectly.

PS: Next time - please have better control of the weather! ;-) (*HA!)

What a beautiful home you have!
We are so grateful you allow us to spend time here!

My husband Steve and I came with our 2 teenage daughter and their friends, and no one wants to go back home.

Unfortunately we did not have Francisco and Alicia cook. Too much running around, but they are non the less wonderful.

The peacefulness and beauty of this wonderful place was exactly what we needed.

Our family of 5 plus a family friend had a wonderful 10 days stay at your beautiful villa!

We had Francisco cook 7 nights out of ten, and loved every meal! and had Chili Rellenos, twice! Also enjoyed the fajitas, enchilades, shrimp with garlic butter, felit de pescado & Poc Chuc. He and Alicia made our visit wonderful, and our oldest son enjoyed visiting with them in Spanish every night.

We enjoyed the beaches at Akumal, El Pariso, La Vita Bella, & La Zebra beach clubs for lunch and the afternoon. We had lunch as Zamaz one day and ate at LoHa in Akumal twice, plus La Buena Vita. My husband enjoyed breakfast at Blue Sky.

We decided to see Coba and climbed the big pyramid plus cenote this visit. We enjoyed a visit at X-caret beach (no chairs, take a cooler)

We were thrilled that the photos & website were real - we were surprised by the size - very comfortable. We had a much needed, relaxing week here! Francisco & Alicia treated us to a super meal. we're checking our 2010 calendar! Quiet beach & lazy days were a welcome from our busy schedule up north (10 inches of snow fell while we were here). The simplicity here was inviting - Oh & we used the grill almost every day.
